CNN – Pretending To Do News

April 28, 2014

Anybody want to help CNN understand why their ratings suck?

Producers behind a CNN documentary series on Rahm Emanuel — a series billed as unscripted — coordinated closely with the Chicago mayor’s staff on everything from camera shots to storylines, according to a new report based on hundreds of internal emails.

The Chicago Tribune reviewed more than 700 emails pertaining to the making and filming of “Chicagoland,” an eight-part series which finished airing last week.

Though coordination can be expected in any documentary series, the emails reportedly show the Emanuel administration playing an active role in the narrative — and producers encouraging them to play ball.

One email showed executive producer Marc Levin appealing to the mayor’s office last May to be “on the phone in his SUV, in city hall with key advisers and his kitchen cabinet and meeting with CPS head BBB (Barbara Byrd-Bennett) and with CPD (Superintendent Garry) McCarthy.”

The first episode of the series showed several such scenes.

Emails reportedly show close coordination between CNN team, Emanuel on ‘Chicagoland’ | Fox News.

Out of the mouth of babes… Howard Kurtz quoting Joel Klein:

Time magazine’s Joe Klein used to watch CNN at 6 p.m. just as prep for the nightly newscasts, but the network’s coverage of the missing Malaysian Airlines plane has gotten so ridiculous and pathetic, out of the three cable networks, Fox News is the only one with a solid newscast in that time slot.

Klein told Jeff Greenfield at the 92nd Street Y [Sunday] night, ‘It is such an embarrassment to our profession that CNN has gone in the toilet the way it has. You know, I miss being able to turn on a straight newscast, and it turns out the only place you can go to get one at 6:00 at night is Fox.

NAACP to Blacks: “Sterling a Racist? You’re Kidding Me!!”

April 27, 2014

You couldn’t write this as a fictional story and make it more believable:

The NAACP, a long time liberal outpost of the Democrats, was planning an awards banquet in 2 weeks that would honor Donald Sterling with a lifetime achievement award. Donald, of course, is the NBA LA Clippers owner who was recently caught on tape expressing candidly racist views.

So either Donald Sterling is the greatest liar in the world, having convinced the expert racist-detecting NAACP that he’s golden with the Brothers… or the NAACP is incapable of recognizing racists, especially those who are rich famous people donating lots of money.

Unless it’s blatantly caught on tape – then the NAACP is straight up offended.

I feel sorry for black people. They’ve been led astray by Democrats and black leadership (Al Sharpton, Jessie Jackson, Louis Farrakhan, etc) who regularly sell them out for money. Like the Native Americans who traded Manhattan for trinkets, blacks win big government handouts and lower affirmative action standards in exchange for votes. In the end they’re left with generations of wasted opportunities while their leadership parades in the fawning press as royalty.

NAACP will not present award to Donald Sterling amid controversy | For The Win.

Here’s Howard Kurtz a day later questioning the NAACP:

What about the L.A. chapter of the NAACP, which just yanked an award it was about to bestow on Sterling? TPM’s Peter Dreier reports:

“Yes, there’s no way that the NAACP could have known that Sterling would be caught making those comments. But there’s also no way that the NAACP could not have known that Sterling has a long history of racist comments and racial discrimination in his rental properties.

“Indeed, the NAACP seems to suffer from amnesia. Almost exactly five years ago, a similar controversy arose when the civil rights group honored Sterling with the same award! At the time, Elgin Baylor, who served as the Clippers general manager from 1986 to 2008, had just filed an age and racial discrimination suit against Sterling. According to Baylor, Sterling had a ‘Southern plantation’ view, preferring to field a team of ‘poor black boys from the South … playing for a white coach.’”

The answer is that Sterling contributed plenty of money to the group.

And there’s more. This is from the LA Times describing questions about the head of the LA chapter of the NAACP:

Leon Jenkins, president of the NAACP branch, has been a focus of attention in recent days. While a Detroit judge, Jenkins in 1988 was indicted on federal bribery, conspiracy, mail fraud and racketeering charges, according records from the State Bar of California.

Authorities at the time alleged that Jenkins received gifts from those who appeared in his court and committed perjury, the records show. He was acquitted of criminal charges. But in 1994 the Michigan Supreme Court disbarred him, finding “overwhelming evidence” that Jenkins “sold his office and his public trust,” according to the bar records.

Sure, that was 20 years ago… but the article also details the results of Mr. Jenkins recent request to practice law in California:

Earlier this month, the bar turned him down, questioning whether he had the “moral fitness to resume the practice of law,” according to records. The bar stated that he made misrepresentations on divorce papers and on his petition for reinstatement to the bar. Officials claimed he failed to disclose a $660,000 loan he owed former legal clients.

If you wonder why nobody takes racism charges seriously, this is part of the reason – leadership in the black community are charlatans who are more interested in advancing their own pockets than those of the people sincerely claim to represent.

IRS Scandal

April 18, 2014

Ask any liberal this question:

If the Justice Department lead by John Ashcroft was involved with an IRS investigation of, ACORN, or any other progressive individual that opposed the Bush administration – would this then be a scandal worthy of investigation?

As the emails show, it was a high-level conspiracy to use the offices and powers of the federal government — including the IRS, FEC and Justice — to falsely prosecute and harass the tea party and conservative political groups that opposed the Obama administration.

Income Inequality My Ass

April 18, 2014

Unreal. Hopefully any contributions Mr. Krugman produces will be met with retorts of hypocrisy accompanied by this article. Income inequality is nothing more than the Democrats attempt to shift public discourse from the train wreck that is Obamacare, AKA the Unaffordable Care Act, leading up to the 2014 elections.

Being a “distinguished professor” of economics at the City University of New York is nice work if you can get it. “During year-one,” the boss explains in a letter to the new hire, “you will not be expected to teach or supervise students.” In subsequent years, “you will teach one seminar per year.” In addition, the boss informs the distinguished professor that he “will play a modest role in our public events” and “will be asked to contribute to the buildup” of one of the university’s programs.

The pay is $225,000 a year, plus a $10,000 expense budget–and the distinguished prof gets summers off. reports that CUNY’s new distinguished professor is none other than former Enron adviser Paul Krugman. The program he’ll be helping build up in exchange for this generous compensation is the Luxembourg Income Study Center and particularly its “inequality initiative.”

Been Asking This Question for a While Now

April 14, 2014

What needs to be explained is not the “fear” of Asian parents that preferences to blacks and Hispanics discriminate against Asians, but why it took them so long to express it. And why they continue to vote for Democrats who support policies that discriminate against their own children.

Asian American group tries to reconnect with GOP, citing shared core values | Fox News

April 13, 2014

I still dont’ understand why Asian Americans are not voting Republican. Especially Asians affected by the Vietnam War… Democrats forced the US out of Vietnam which gave NVC a victory. There is NO WAY the US could not have STOMPED the NVC if it wasn’t for the Democrats.

Processed Food Ingredients

April 11, 2014

Just wow…

Subway says the ingredient dubbed the “yoga mat chemical” will be entirely phased out of its bread by next week, reflecting the greater scrutiny food labels are receiving.

Not that people have been dying in the streets from “yoga mat chemical”, but this type of stuff has to drive CEOs nuts. Their advertising budget is enormous to begin with, let alone costs for brand imaging consultants… and then you have this listed as one of your ingredients.

Just wow…
